Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers Hosts Successful Third Annual Charity Golf Tournament
Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers welcomed golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and community supporters to the Third Annual Charity Golf Tournament, held today at the beautiful Maple City Country Club. Presented by Lally Chevrolet Sales & Service, AVLIS Jewelry, Thames Communications, and McLean's Painting, the tournament brought together members of the community for a day of golf, networking, and fundraising in support of local crime prevention initiatives.
The annual event has become one of the organization's signature fundraisers, providing an opportunity for businesses, community leaders, and residents to come together in support of a safer Chatham-Kent. Participants enjoyed a full day on the course while contributing to a cause that benefits the entire community.
"This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and it has been a wonderful success. Thank you to our sponsors and to the people who have come out to play. It is through your generosity and dedication that we are able to help continue to make Chatham-Kent a safer community for everyone," said Erica McIntosh, Coordinator for Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers. “The event has raised over $35,000 and those funds go directly into supporting our anonymous tips program, education initiatives, and community outreach activities such as the Children’s Safety Expo.”
As a charitable organization, Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers relies entirely on community support to operate. The program receives no direct funding from government agencies and depends on donations, sponsorships, fundraising events, and community partnerships to continue its work.
“This year we have a focus on three important education topics based on local and national trends. The three topics are Guns, Gangs, and Violence Awareness; Auto Theft Prevention; and Break and Enter Prevention,” said McIntosh. “Of course, we remain active in supporting all activities to reduce crime and work with groups across the municipality to provide timely support.”
Since its inception, Crime Stoppers programs have played an important role in helping law enforcement agencies and communities work together to solve crimes, recover property, and improve public safety. Local fundraising efforts help ensure the program can continue providing rewards for eligible tips and promoting awareness about crime prevention throughout the municipality.
The success of the Third Annual Charity Golf Tournament was made possible through the support of presenting sponsors, hole sponsors, prize donors, volunteers, and the many golfers who participated in the event.
Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to this year's tournament and helped make the event another successful step toward building a stronger and safer community.
The organization encourages residents to report information about criminal activity without fear of retaliation by providing a secure and anonymous way to submit tips. Anyone with information about a crime can submit an anonymous tip by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by visiting Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers at www.ckcrimestoppers.ca.
Sponsors are vital to the success of the Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers program. It is through their support that the organization is able to continue to play a vital role in stopping, solving, and preventing crime across Chatham-Kent. Pictured left to right:
